Learning should not be seen as a static process. In the both the technical and managerial space we must strive for constant improvement of ourselves.
One of the primary means I have found to stay current is to teach others. This forces me to constantly research and evaluate current trends. I began teaching in 2014 when I volunteered to teach advanced programming techniques for a local high school robotics team. This group of high school students has constantly impressed, check out their website here.
After developing a train the trainer program with the high school students, I moved to the post-secondary education space where I have been teaching since 2018. Currently I teach asynchronous online coursework at Mitchell Community College, as well as spend 1 day a week at the Belk College of Business at UNC-Charlotte teaching upperclassmen about MIS, and how to effectively manage information systems to maximize value for the organization.
