If you want to build a ship, don’t drum up the men to gather wood, divide the work, and give orders. Instead, teach them to yearn for the vast and endless sea.
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, French writer and pioneering aviator
Leadership is not about telling people what to do, but about sharing a vision and empowering the team you build to help support that vision.
My management style is one of collaboration and education. I want to lead from the front by setting the example of how I want the work to be accomplished. No individual contributor should feel like they are alone in making a project a success. The team will succeed as a whole.
I also believe we should educate all members of the team with what the end goal is, so that they can provide valuable feedback and improvement of the processes along the way. The greatest workflow improvements I have effected, have come from front line staff with great ideas on making things work better.
